On Saturday, 1 August 2026, the gates swing open at the iconic Tamworth Jockey Club for one unforgettable morning, the dust won’t just settle, it’ll fly.
From 10:30am to 1:30pm, Rodeo Rookies Gala Day transforms the grounds into a hands on, heart pounding introduction to life in the arena. This is where curious children aged 7-15, step into boots, hats, and a whole new world learning what it takes to ride, rope, and run like a true cowboy or cowgirl.
The station style activities are built for adventure. Try your hand at roping, test your balance on the bucking dummy, jump into the fun of the 2 legged barrel race, where speed, and laughter take centre stage.
Meet real rodeo horses up close, feel the ground shake with their power, and discover how much skill and trust goes into every ride. Between the action, families can relax with face painting, music, entertainment a sizzling BBQ, fresh coffee from the coffee van, a lineup of local trade stalls and giveaways bringing the country spirit to life.
This isn’t just a day out it’s a gateway into a tradition. A place where confidence grows, friendships form, and Kids or even yourself might just discover the next big passion.
